History

The Club was founded in 1990 by the parents and friends of children with special needs, living in Portmarnock.

There were no facilities in Portmarnock, prior to this, for young people with special needs, who were not being integrated within their own community.

The Arch Club changed that and soon it became evident that we needed out own purpose-built premises to facilitate the diverse activities of our members.

A site was very generously donated to us by the Diocese of Dublin, behind St. Anne’s Church in Portmarnock Village.

Proper Fingal were invited to provide a training service. This began in August 2000 with the support and approval of the HSE.

Our club is affiliated to the National Federation of Arch Clubs and the Catholic Youth Council.
